Luke Byrne School of Karate

Our mission is to provide all students with the opportunity to reach their full potential within the art of karate, and to provide for the various needs and desires of each member of the club.

Luke Byrne School of Karate offers the opportunity to learn martial arts in a fun and exciting environment. Allowing each individual student the opportunity to fulfill their potential both as karate-ka and as members of the outside community through the consistent practice of Karate.

The ultimate goal of all Karate enthusiasts is to achieve the rank of Black Belt. However as a white belt the attainment of such a degree can seem out of reach. LBSK makes the journey to Black Belt fun and exciting with the realisation that all students are individual and as such have different desires and needs. In order to cater for such diversity, students are provided with the opportunity to participate in competitions, seminars and various other local, national and international initiatives.

As qualified Karate instructors we aim to provide the knowledge, skills and opportunities that will ensure our students can pursue a lifetime of involvement in the martial arts. We believe that by providing sound knowledge through good teaching practices, a positive and success oriented environment can be achieved, facilitating a high level of enjoyment and success in the martial arts.

Through participation in Karate classes, students will be exposed to a range of unique practical, theoretical and philosophical experiences that will allow them to develop:

A broad range of fundamental movement skills,

Advanced sport skills and concepts,

Self-Defence skills and lifesaving strategies,

An understanding of the connection between the philosophical, theoretical and practical content of karate,

Knowledge of the relationship between physical activity, karate and health,

Knowledge of fitness and its application to sports training and performance,

Skills that will facilitate social competence both within a physical activity setting, and other life situations.
