Vote Sensei Dean Geyer for Australian Idol '06!
Dean, who trains at the Shotokan Karate Coalition Honbu Dojo with his father is taking idol by storm. He is currently the favourite with many betting agencies to win the event and showed everyone his enormous potential with a spine shivering performance of Tonic's 'If You Could Only See'. Dean is already being talked about on South African radio and in their newspapers. I am sure that this is the start of a huge career for Dean. Make sure you vote! SUMO NIGHT BIG SUCCESS!
Recently we held our first team sumo competition. The night was designed to be a fun event and students were invited to bring their friends along to join in. Students were split into eight teams of 5 and then given the challenging task of coming up with a team name. Each match was very exciting with very strong competition, but eventually we did get a winner. The results were as follows, 3rd place -The Gangsters, 2nd Place - The Karate Kids and the title of Grande Sumo Champs went to the JACKIE CHANS. Thankyou everyone for a great night.
STUDENTS EXCELL AT GRADING
Our first grading for 2006 was very impressive. As usual there was a great deal of improvement in all our students and most importantly all the kids tried their best. We hope that the new report cards that we gave the students were helpful to both students and parents and a more effective and immediate feedback system.
The following students received grading certificates for outstanding performance during grading
- Mark Phillips
- Jake Howson
- Taylor Mamone
- Dean Martin
- Michelle Smith
- Jordan Mangion
- Sarah Richards

VISITING INSTRUCTOR
On Saturday the 11th of Sept we were lucky to have the head instructor of the Shotokan Karate Coalition (SKC), Sensei Keith Geyer (7th Dan) come to Roxburgh Park and teach our students. All the students enjoyed the demonstrations performed by the black belts before splitting into smaller groups for individual instruction.
Thank you to Sensei Keith and all of the black belts for providing us with this fantastic opportunity,
